John R. Montgomery
John R. Montgomery IV is an advertising industry veteran and television producer. Most recently, he was an Executive Producer on CBS' ''The Crazy Ones''. Show creator David E. Kelley cited Montgomery as the inspiration for the show and character Simon Roberts, portrayed by Robin Williams. Montgomery is also a 33-year veteran of Leo Burnett advertising agency in Chicago. Although he left Leo Burnett in September 2013 to work on ''The Crazy Ones'' full-time, he still consults for the company, most recently in Tokyo, Japan on the McDonald's account.
== Early Life and Education ==

Montgomery grew up in Chicago, Illinois where he was raised by his parents John R. Montgomery III and DeeDee Smart Montgomery. He attended New Trier High School in Winnetka, Illinois. Later, he graduated from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, with a B.A. in English.
